Located at the very top of the beloved University Theatre is Room 3.01: a lecture hall at the Musicology department of the University of Amsterdam. It is well known amongst musicologists as the place where first-year students primordially dip their toes in the academic pond; where we are taught music theory, harmony, cognition, but also hear our first glimpses of musics from bygone eras and from everywhere around the world. Here we listened to world-renowned guest speakers and world-class teachers, and learned how incredibly multi-faceted and all-encompassing music as a whole is. It is a place of inspiration, knowledge and music of all kinds – and the place where we met.

We are Joram and Jurre and we formed studio3.01 with the values and spirit of this lecture hall as its creative backdrop. We seek to produce music with other creatives and highly value the creative interdisciplinary process; to be fully involved in a project’s concept and fully immersing ourselves in its origin, philosophy and goal. Our favourite projects are the ones where we go back and forth with clients and truly breathe life into their musical vision in a way that best fits their project. If you feel like yours could be next, we would love to hear from you.
